TRAINING
How important is training your rescue dog? It is everything.
Without training your rescue dog will not understand you. The communication between you will not exist. When you get your rescue dog, they speak a different language. They may have literally come from a home that speaks a different language than you do..
The rescue dog has to learn a whole new routine, new words, new places and smells. Training gives them consistent moments where everything is the same. They can rely on sit to mean sit and wait to mean wait.
Sometimes we confuse our dogs and ourselves by changing what we mean or want in the middle of an interaction. We can get confused. Imagine what it’s like for a dog.

Training every day set the president for making communication number one. When you understand each other a bond forms and trust develops. Your dog has to trust you as much as you have to trust them.
Keep commands simple at first: sit, stay, wait, touch, come. When you both start feeling confident with each other, add more complicated commands.

Training facilities are a wonderful way to spend time with your dog as well as reinforce the bond between you. Opportunities for socialization, understanding and competition are available. Affordable options as well as private lessons are possible. Training at home will continue to be your foundation for reinforcement of what is learned.
