What makes sit so important?   Sit is a basic command.  When your dog knows how to sit they can hear you. 
 

Sit can be useful in many ways.   From giving a simple treat, to stopping jumping behavior to transitioning into complicated down positions The command sit is a foundation for other commands.  
 

Teaching sit is fairly simple.  To start find a good safe area to train.  Have some tasty treats on hand.
