Rescue dogs need time and patience. 

 

Regardless of the circumstances they have been traumatized.   Change is scary. 

 

They may need immediate medical care.   Any injuries, wounds, sickness, suspected issues, vomiting, diarrhea, urination problems, , worms need to be taken care of right away.

An examination by a veterinarian can find or prevent medical issues.   Keep in mind many rescue dogs are terrified of the vet.   They may have had bad experiences in the past.  They are being taken to a strange place and asked to have a stranger invade their space.   

 

Be mindful of your rescue dogs body language.  Monitor your rescue dog for anything that seems unusual.  

 

Remember especially the first couple of days your rescue dog is scared, worried, anxious, unsure, doesn’t feel safe, and doesn’t  understand you.
