BRING DOWN THE LEVEL

Why is it important to bring down a dog’s excitement level and when?

Dog’s can get over stimulated very easily.  They quickly start to bark, jump, run and pull.   They can’t hear what you’re staying.  They’re too wound up.

This can be caused by anxiety, lack of security, waiting too long by themselves, need to guard what they have, not enough exercise and then all of a sudden, they’re free.

Their blood pressure goes up, heart rate increases, and they have tunnel vision.   They need brought back to their current environment and calmed down.

Noises like claps, squeaks, voice sounds can help.   Changing directions and tossing treats can bring them back.

The biggest help is to prevent the behavior to begin with.   Figure out the cause and eliminate their need to have this behavior.

Consistent training with basic commands like sit, stay and watch me can teach the dog that they have options.  They can make better choices that keep them doing good behaviors.
