ALL ABOUT RESCUE DOGS

The title says all about rescue dogs.   Is there really a way to explain every single rescue dog or are they all unique?

We've found that every rescue dog is an individual.  They all have their ways about them and their own personalities.

What is a rescue dog?

A rescue dog is any dog that has been taken away, given away, ran away or has been displaced from their home.  A rescue then takes responsibility for the dog and finds a different home for the dog.

Rescue dog challenges

What challenges will you have with your rescue dog?    You may need to work on house training, anxiety, chewing, guarding, escaping, velcro behaviors, manners, leash walking, compliance, and communication.

Routine

Set a good routine for your rescue dog.  They may never have had a consistent, reliable schedule.   They are looking to you for their security and stability.

Communication

Communicate with your dog.   Let them know what you would like to see, explain what's going on, and repeat as many times and is many ways as needed.

Family

Remember your rescue dog is now part of your family.   It's important to do whatever it takes to integrate your new family member into the pack.   Your rescue dog has had a difficult life so far.  It is up to you to ensure they have the best life ever moving forward.

Time and patience are your biggest allies with your rescue dog.
